The Peacock is a dark reddish brown with black and yellow markings with a large lilac blue eye-like spot on each wing. The underside is mostly black. Both the male and the female look alike.

Where to sight species

This butterfly is usually found where there is a good supply of flowers. A frequent visitor to the parks and gardens.


Brighstone, Limerstone, Nettlecombe, Ventnor.
